Hey guys! Just wanted to say what’s up. I’m hoping that just leaving a little stream of consciousness every time I get online will clear out the junk in my head just like I’ve been clearing the junk from my hard drive and my room. Today I’m gonna talk about Philip K. Dick. I think instead of bothering with the pompously irrelevant second Star Wars trilogy, someone should work on putting out the VALIS trilogy on film, or if not, just “Radio Free Albemuth”, which is not part of the trilogy, but has a similar theme. Imagine this; you’d have a combination of the first Star Wars movie, Pi, and Fight Club. I can’t explain it any better than that. I mean where else would you get to see multiple personality disorder (where main characters literally split into other characters), a giant self-aware satellite that beams information, God itself returning as children, heavy Qabbalic discussion, time overlaps where Koine era Greece begins to overlap the 1980s, and an ever-present dictator-president with 3 Fs in his name (F=6). And that’s just what I remember off the top of my head of the first book. The second is even better.
If any of you cats haven’t seen it, you might want to check out “Steal This Movie”. I watched it again recently, and it reaffirmed itself as one of my favorite movies of all time. It’s about Abbie Hoffman, who, whatever you think of him, was definitely interesting enough to make a movie about. I definitely felt I understood him better after Robert Anton Wilson’s explanation of him in the Illuminatus Trilogy. Anyway, it’s definitely something to check out, if for nothing else than a primer on COINTELPRO, which will probably be the subject of some future article of mine.
Oh, by the way, just wanted to let everyone know that November 29th is Buy-Nothing day; I think it’s like the 8th or 9th annual. Buy-Nothing Day is just that; you try your best to not buy a single thing the whole day and re-evaluate your attachment to the money economy. I mean really, anything you need for the weekend could be bought the day before or after. It’s an exercise in discipline; the harder it is to resist buying something, the more you should wonder why you feel so compelled to. But like I said, it IS a Friday, so if you HAVE to go to the club, be sure to tip well and redistribute the wealth properly. Thanx for yer time. I think I’m done for today.
